It is important to screen children at 12 and 24 months for lead. If the test comes back elevated, Pine County Public Health will connect with you to identify sources of lead and avoid exposure.

The Minnesota Department of Health recommends that all Minnesota homeowners test their homes for radon. A radon test is the only way to find out how much radon is in your home. You can test your home yourself or hire a licensed professional. Hiring a radon measurement professional is recommended when an unbiased, third party is needed, such as in a real estate transaction. Pine County Public Health sometimes distribute radon test kits to residents or you can access the MN Radom program for a discounted radon test kit.
Pine County Planning and Zoning offers well testing, which is important to make sure our well water is still safe. Pick up testing kits in the Sandstone County building, just stop in. If you are near flood waters, Pine County Public Health can provide free well test kits.
