A growing concern that impacts many survivors of domestic abuse, especially after they leave the relationship is digital safety.
When an abuser no longer has physical access, they may shift to digital tactics—exposing or threatening to expose a survivor’s home address, workplace, contact information, or personal details. This form of doxxing can lead to serious real‑world risks, including stalking, harassment, job disruption, and physical danger.
To help address this, we worked with cybersecurity experts and survivor‑informed advocates to create a practical guide that explains how doxxing is used in abusive dynamics and what steps survivors can take to reduce their risk:

American Indian and Alaska Native women experience high rates of violence, but few seek help. In 2017, the StrongHearts Native Helpline was created to offer culturally-sensitive support. It provides services like crisis intervention and safety planning for Native communities. In 2021, it became an independent nonprofit, continuing to help those affected by domestic and sexual violence.
