Join local author and poet, Laurie Allmann, as we draw from your connections to landscape, contemporary culture, your own heritage, and local history to produce fresh new works in this writing workshop. We will play with artful ways to express your concept of home through writing.

Individuals and inter-generational pairs are welcome! Participants, please bring 5-6 photographs that contribute to your idea of home. These could include, but are not limited to, your house/apartment, people, meaningful objects, rooms, foods, favorite places near and far that speak to you of home. (You’ll be keeping these photos, so no need to make copies).

Laurie Allmann is an award-winning environmental writer, essayist and poet (Far from Tame, University of MN Press and An Hour Now, Nodin Press). She has taught writing workshops in many settings, and has been a course instructor for The Loft Literary Center.

Allmann is currently serving a year-long term as Artist in Residence for the nonprofit North Woods and Waters of the St. Croix Heritage Area (NWW), which promotes the outstanding nature, cultural, historic, and recreational resources of the St. Croix Watershed and the nationally significant stories of its people.
