Pine County CMH can work with families through an “assessment period” where they will help families access diagnostic assessments and mental health services. In order to enter case management, the child must have a diagnostic assessment completed and/or have a statement of severe emotional disturbance. If at the end of the “assessment period” there is not a diagnosis/statement of severe emotional disturbance, CMH would likely refer to the Early Childhood Family Support Coach, various family therapies (attachment therapy, play therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, parenting education, family psychoeducation, etc., as the challenges often stem from an issue with the home environment or family system.
